Career Profiles: Histotechnologist

What do they do?

Histotechnologists prepare body tissue for examination by pathologists.  They are responsible for performing complex procedures for processing tissue and must make judgments concerning the quality of the results.

Where do they work?

Hospitals, clinics and labs.

Educational Requirements

Must have a bachelor's degree and certification from the National Accredited Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or Committee on Allied Health Education Accreditation (CAHEA).
