On Feb. 5, 2007, Francesco was part of a team of climbers that succeeded in scaling the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Francesco sought donations for every thousand feet he climbed (with ascent and descent, that was 39,000 feet.) All of the proceeds will benefit the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program at Van Elslander Cancer Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit.
"I would have never dreamed of doing such a thing 6 or 8 years ago, " says Francesco. "I will figuratively be able to touch the sky and in a way be closer to my mom."
Francesco raised over $30,000 to benefit the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program at Van Elslander Cancer Center.
