Pumping Up the Heartbeat
Hip-hop turned healthy best describes the innovative approach Healthy Start Publishing is taking to educate children about health and safety. The company uses reading, music and rhythm to persuade young children to keep their bodies fit.
“Pumping Up The Heartbeat” is an illustrated song about the heart and circulation of the blood that kids can follow. Upon hearing it they instinctively begin to sing and dance. As a result they are able to exercise while learning basic anatomy and physiology of the heart. The end of the book includes a summary of the cardiovascular system, questions and answers and a short glossary for parents that may want to provide more detailed information as their children’s interest in heart health peaks.
A Heart Smart certificate of achievement, signed by the author, is included for children to encourage their participation. For ordering information, call 1-866-501-DOCS.
