St. John Hospital and Medical Center sponsors a cancer support group that provides people with cancer and those close to them an opportunity to share similar experiences and concerns. A health care professional facilitates the sessions and provides information.

The demands of caregiving can be overwhelming, especially if you feel you have little control over the situation or that you’re in over your head. If you let the stress of caregiving progress to burnout, it can damage both your physical and mental health. So if you’re caring for a family member, it’s essential that you get the support you need. The good news is that you’re not alone. Help for caregivers is available.

A caregiver support group is one way to share your troubles and seek out people who are going through the same experiences that you are living each day. In most support groups, you'll talk about your problems and listen to others talk; you'll not only get help, but you'll be able to help others, too. Most important, you'll find out that you're not alone. Please come receive some HUGS (Help Us Give Support … Help Us Gain Support) from the team at Providence Park Hosptial.

Eastside Surgical Specialists Dr. Hawasli and Dr. Meguid host these support groups on the third Wednesday of every month. Please call 586-774-8811 for more information.

Come and meet with other people who know what it is to have diabetes. This is a good place to talk about your concerns and have the understanding of others. Sometimes meeting with others who have “been there” can help you understand and learn tips for diabetes management or coping.

Open Arms serves children and teens from ages 3 - 17 who have experienced the death of a loved one due to accident, illness, suicide or murder. Parents or caregivers can also participate in support groups to address the issues of raising children after a traumatic loss.
