St. John Health continues to serve the Detroit community during and after the transition of St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital to an emergency and urgent care facility. If you have concerns, check with your physician, or call St. John Health Connect at 888-440-7325 for a referral to a doctor or health service close to your home.

Emergency

• The Riverview Emergency Department remains open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Most patients are seen within 20 minutes.
• A 24-hour Emergency Department remains open at St. John Conner Creek Village.
• St. John Hospital and Medical Center is substantially increasing the size of its Emergency Department. The newly renovated Emergency Department is scheduled to open in 2009.

Seeing a doctor

• Riverview physicians remain on site caring for patients.
• Pharmacy, lab and X-ray services remain on site to serve patients.
• The other St. John primary care medical centers in the Riverview vicinity will continue to operate.
• SJH will continue to provide transportation for patients using services on the Riverview campus.

Patients with Medicaid

We’ll continue to meet the needs of patients with Medicaid at the Riverview Emergency Department.

• Patients with Medicaid also will be able to receive care at St. John Hospital and Providence Hospital.
• Even with the closing of Riverview, St. John Health will continue to be the second largest provider of Medicaid services in Michigan.

Care for the under and uninsured

We continue to provide care for the children and adults in the Riverview community who are either under- or uninsured through our:

• Community Health Centers  
• School-Based Clinics  
• Parish Nurse Programs
• HIV/AIDS Management program
• Infant mortality program
• Specialty care program staffed by St. John Health physician-volunteers
• Contribution of dollars, supplies, staff volunteer time to charity/community /non-profit groups
