Van Elslander Cancer Center Champions for Life Event
Cancer impacts all of us in some way or another. According to the American Cancer Society, one in four deaths in the United States is due to cancer.
As Goodwill Ambassadors for the Van Elslander Cancer Center (VECC), the Champions for Life group is dedicated to increasing awareness and visibility through special fundraising events and each member’s daily activities. Through these efforts, the ultimate goal of elevating the quality of care at the cancer center will be achieved.
With the current economic climate of southeast Michigan, many patients and families are struggling financially to meet their medical costs. For each person to have the opportunity to receive excellent cancer care, donations are essential to help meet these expenses and to take the burden off those struggling with a cancer diagnosis so they can focus on healing.
This year's event features a package raffle, casino games, strolling dinner, open bar and more. Food will be provided by some of our area’s top establishments including Andiamo Trattoria, Cadillac Coffee, Dirty Dog Jazz Café, Hotz Catering, Kroger, National Coney Island, Sweetheart Bakery and Thibault & Moore Catering.
Proceeds will help subsidize medical and daily living expenses faced by oncology patients during their cancer journey at the Van Elslander Cancer Center.
The Van Elslander Cancer Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center is a member of St. John Health System - a growing network of community-based hospitals and health care services in southeast Michigan and one of the largest employers in metro Detroit. The 2010 Friends’ Ball will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 6:00 p.m. at the Diamond Center at Rock Financial Showplace, Novi.
