Emergency Services
The team of Emergency Medicine board certified physicians in the Emergency Department (ED) at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital (SJM-OH), Oakland Center, handle a wide variety of Emergency medical needs, including those for children, stroke and heart attack patients, orthopedics, and trauma…among many others.
The Emergency Department ranks highly in quality core measures, especially in the area of aspirin and beta-blockers for heart attack patients. This focus on standards and quality represents a commitment on the part of physicians, nurses, and staff to high quality medical care.
The SJM-OH, Oakland Center Emergency residency program was recently given a five-year accreditation by the American Osteopathic Association. A residency program keeps all physicians current and fresh in their knowledge, and up on the latest treatments. Residents in the program participate in both local and national research.
Other highlights include:
- The “Bed Ahead” program, which assigns EMS patients to a bed before they arrive. This decreases door-to-doctor time, and allows the physicians to get EMS patients treated much more efficiently.
- Access to both a 64 and 16-slice CT scanner.
- Fast Track is open 12 hours a day to get patients with minor emergencies treated fast.
- Door-to-doc time is under 30 minutes.
