PH GME Osteopathic Neurosurgery Program - General Information

Duty hours will be established by the base/host institution. On call shall not exceed every third night or nine (9) per month.  An average of 48 hours off every other weekend will be granted.  Nights off will be 12 hours in length.  Copies of call schedules are posted in the neurosurgery office and available for review at any time.

Moonlighting and Other Extracurricular Activities :   The resident who decides to moonlight must get permission from the Program director/site coordinator.  If the moonlighting activity is detrimental to the resident’s education, the resident will be requested to cease moonlighting.  Residents must comply with the Providence Hospital Policy on Moonlighting

Corrective Action :   Corrective action may include suspension, reappointment without advancement, decision not to reappoint, termination of agreement, and other action including, but not limited to, probation and issuance of a letter of warning, admonition or reprimand.

Residents shall not terminate their program without providing one-hundred-twenty (120) days prior written notification and an opportunity for the Program director/site coordinator to discuss any differences, dissatisfaction or complaints.  In the event of incapacitating illness, the resident may terminate this agreement with written notification to the program director/site coordinator.
