To achieve our main goal of prolonging life through enrollment in clinical trials, we will develop an assessment tool that identifies the barriers to enrolling in clinical trials. During the second year, we will actively work on overcoming those barriers and enrolling more patients in clinical trials.
Our second key goal is to provide comprehensive services to enhance the quality of life and improve survivorship issues. Our objective will be to foster referrals to the program. To achieve this, we will launch a campaign using in-kind resources from St. John Health to communicate key messages to the community and referring physicians. Another goal is to build stronger links to community resources that provide support to this age group. An assessment and evaluation tool will be developed for both of these goals. We are committed to working with the media to gain coverage for the AYA program.
We have good knowledge of the patient population that we are attempting to serve, but will learn vastly more about this group with funding from the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Our results will advance care not only in southeastern Michigan, but can be used as a model for other programs throughout the nation.
