Michigan RN Licensure Inforamtion for TN eligible Canadian citizens

U.S. Federal regulations require foreign nurses and some other health care workers to obtain a Health care Worker Certificate, also know as a VisaScreenTM (VS), before work authorization, including Trade NAFTA (TN) can be granted.

Even if you completed your nursing education in the United States, you are required to obtain a VisaScreenTM certificate. In order to obtain a VisaScreenTM certificate a nurse must:

  • Pass the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFN-RN) exam OR Pass the National Council State boards of Nursing (NCLEX-RN) exam

Passing the NCLEX qualifies nurses for permanent Michgian licensure.

New RN graduates will be reimbursed for completing the NCLEX. We also provide reimbursement for the VisaScreenTM and TN work authorization fees.
