U.S. Federal regulations require foreign nurses and some other health care workers to obtain a Health care Worker Certificate, also know as a VisaScreenTM (VS), before work authorization, including Trade NAFTA (TN) can be granted.
Even if you completed your nursing education in the United States, you are required to obtain a VisaScreenTM certificate. In order to obtain a VisaScreenTM certificate a nurse must:
Passing the NCLEX qualifies nurses for permanent Michgian licensure.
New RN graduates will be reimbursed for completing the NCLEX. We also provide reimbursement for the VisaScreenTM and TN work authorization fees.
Steps for Canadian Citizens applying for TN work authorization and licensure as a Registered Nurse in Michigan

Obtain your Ontario or other provincial nursing license.

Apply for Michigan RN license. If educated outside Ontario, you must first complete the English language proficiency and CGFNS exams. Applications for Michgian can be requested by calling 517-335-0918 or online at
