Biofeedback is another tool to help people cope with a variety of pain disorders and anxiety. For example, in the treatment of headache, a person is given visual or auditory information about his or her level of muscle tension or skin temperature. A person uses this information to learn to decrease muscle tension or warm their hands. This participation in changing the physiology associated with head pain helps to prevent or possibly abort a headache.
