Additional required courses for each residency program are funded by the hospital.
Licenses
A limited educational license is purchased by the hospital for the OGME-1 year, but house staff are required to purchase their own license in subsequent years of training.
AOA Dues
AOA dues are paid for by the hospital for the interns and residents.
Lab Coats
House staff are provided with two lab coats during each year of training.
Meals
Meals are provided to externs, interns, and residents during daytime hours and when on call in the hospital.
Vacation Time
- OGME-1 — 15 days plus 5 personal days
- OGME-2 — 15 days plus 5 personal days
- OGME-3 — 15 days plus 5 personal days
- OGME-4 — 15 days plus 5 personal days

ACLS Certification
ACLS recertification will be provided to all interns during intern orientation.
ATLS Certification
ATLS certification will be provided to individuals in certain residency programs at no cost to the house staff.
Health Benefits
Intern, residents and their families will have the opportunity to participate in the St. John Health System SmartPlan benefit program. Employees are provided with a menu of options for health care, dental, optical, and life insurance benefits. Disability insurance is provided.
Housing
Interns and residents: housing is available on a limited basis in the hospital’s on-campus apartment building. Rent is $350 / month, which includes all utilities except telephone.
Externs: a limited number of apartments have been set aside on a first-come, first-served basis to provide housing for externs at no cost to the student
