Dr. Lorenzana is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He is one of the less than 20 pediatricians board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine in the country. He is a fellow of the College of Physicians of Canada and is board certified in Pediatrics in Canada as well. He graduated from National University of Honduras. He completed his Pediatric
residency at the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Chicago. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Oncology and the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. His special clinical research interest is in the biology of childhood Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (ALCL). Through the Children?s Oncology Group
(COG), he is currently studying the role of soluble CD30 as disease marker in ALCL. Three times he has been named one of the area's top pediatric oncologists by Hour Detroit magazine in its Top Doc survey. His new interest is developing a comprehensive supportive care team to children and families afflicted with life-limiting conditions. His research in this area was recently presented at the first national conference in pediatric palliative care.
Alina A. Witkowski, MD

Dr. Witkowski is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Witkowski is the Co-Director and Section Chief of the Pediatric Critical Care Department at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. She graduated from the Medical Academy in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center and her Critical Care fellowship at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit, Michigan. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. She has a special interest in acute respiratory failure, pediatric shock, management of metabolic disorders and medical management of pediatric trauma and head injury.
Dr. Witkowski was recognized as a Top Doctor in critical care medicine by Hour Detroit magazine in 2008.
