The Podiatric Surgical Externship is an educational experience lasting for four weeks provided to fourth year students of the colleges of podiatric medicine.
The Podiatric Extern will rotate in the outpatient podiatric surgical clinic service, the emergency room, as well as in podiatric surgery. All rotations provide direct patient encounters under the supervision and direction of a podiatric surgical resident.
The extern will also be actively involved in teaching rounds, journal club, and will participate in all didactic activities. Special emphasis is placed upon exposure to podiatric trauma as well as all aspects of podiatric surgical management of patients.
