The mission of the Providence Hospital Department of Patient Care Research is to advance the practice of medicine, improve patient care and promote scholarly activities. Central to this mission are the following:

• To encourage and support the pursuit of high quality,
  leading-edge medical research
• To promote the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge
• To advocate on behalf of patients involved in clinical research
• To engender a spirit of scholarly activity among students and physicians

Vision Statement

The vision of the Providence Hospital Department of Patient Care Research is to achieve greater national and international prominence in medical research. This will be achieved through:

• Increasing the number of scholarly publications and presentations
• Strengthening our collaborations with the academic community and industry
• Attracting highly qualified residents and fellows to our programs
• Increasing the number of sponsored research projects
• Identifying new and novel sources of external funding
• Developing a vigorous research program within each medical specialty
