Bring all medications in their original containers.

Take all medications the morning of surgery with a sip of water - except: DO NOT TAKE DIURETICS (water pills) the morning of surgery.

Diabetic Patients: Do NOT take your insulin or diabetes medication the morning of surgery but be sure to BRING them with you.

If you have asthma, use your inhalers the morning of surgery and BRING them with you.

If you are taking a blood thinner (i.e. Coumadin) make sure your surgeon is aware. Follow doctors' instructions regarding dose. Ask your surgeon if you need to stop taking aspirin, Motrin or anti-inflammatory medications. You may need to stop taking them for one week before surgery. You may use Tylenol.

Over the counter weight loss medication and any herbal supplements should be stopped two weeks before surgery.

If you use a CPAP machine at home for sleep apnea, bring it with you the day of surgery.

If you have a pacemaker or internal defibrillator, please inform the nurse during your phone interview.
