As part of the Providence Cancer Institute, the Michael and Rose Assarian Cancer Center in Novi provides the same high-quality care found at the Southfield Cancer Center, but in a unique environment. The Assarian Center goes beyond traditional cancer care in that it combines the best technology has to offer with programs that address the needs of the mind and spirit as well as the body.
The Assarian Center promotes healing on all levels: physical, emotional and spiritual. Clinical expertise and the newest technologies address the patient’s physical needs, while special architectural features, such as the Reflection Space and Soulscape, offer a calming refuge that promotes peace and serenity. In the Karen M. Sinelli Arts Studio and ceramics workshop, patients use various creative media to work through the emotions surrounding their illness. The resulting artwork is displayed in the Nancy A. Fox Art Gallery.
The Center for the Healing Arts recognizes that individuals approach a cancer diagnosis in different ways. Some deal with it intellectually, using data, reason and rational thought; others listen more to their emotions and intuition in making decisions.
