Breast Care Coordinator
For people with cancer, life can feel like a roller coaster of challenges and victories.  This is especially true for women with breast cancer. 

A diagnosis of breast cancer can result in a wide array of emotions and an urgent need for trusted information.  To support women who are newly diagnosed or those already undergoing treatment, the Providence Cancer Institute offers breast care coordination designed to meet their special needs.

Providence’s Breast Care Coordinator can help women with the following:
- Scheduling appointments
- Providing breast cancer education
- Developing plans for emotional support
- Identifying helpful community resources
- Providing genetic risk assessment

The Breast Care Coordinator also oversees Providence’s Breast Cancer Clinic, a program designed for women who have undergone mammograms and biopsies that indicate the existence of cancer.  To ensure integrated care and convenience, each woman sees a nurse coordinator, a medical oncologist and radiation oncologist in one meeting for evaluation and treatment planning.  Women attend evaluation meetings with the Breast Care Coordinator, a medical oncologist, and a radiation oncologist.  The result is a streamlined and coordinated treatment plan that eliminates duplication of tests and procedures, and greatly reduces the anxiety of the women and their loved ones — a critical issue for people with cancer.

Mammography Appointments

At the Elliott Breast Care Clinic at Providence Park in Novi, scheduling and access for mammography services are timely and easy, and results are prompt.  Services also include ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, and sentinel node biopsy.  Many of these services are also available at Providence mammography centers in Southfield, Farmington, and Livonia.  Lymphedema care is available for women undergoing treatment with breast cancer.
