Providence Cancer Institute Service Overview - Medical Oncology

Many types of cancer can be effectively treated with chemotherapy, the use of intravenous or pill-form drugs developed to target and kill cancer cells.  For some cancers, chemotherapy may be the stand-alone treatment.  Often it is combined with surgery or radiation therapy. 

Through affiliations with national organizations and research partnerships, Providence’s medical oncologists are able to offer many progressive and aggressive cancer therapies.  Clinical trials are available to patients who meet research criteria.
