Fractured means broken. Fractures occur when bones are impacted by forces greater than what they can bear. If yours is a minor break, and you’re able to use the affected bone, it’s still important to receive prompt diagnosis. For your fracture to heal properly, it’s important to immobilize the bone. Otherwise you can cause additional damage to the bone, nearby blood vessels, nerves and other tissues surrounding the bone. A medical exam and x-rays are often necessary to confirm a fracture diagnosis.
