More Private Rooms
The McQuade floor of the new VanElslander Pavilion, also known as 4 North, has 36 private rooms. When complete, the VanElslander Pavilion will have 108 private rooms. Every aspect of the new, large patient rooms has been designed to enhance the healing environment and maximize comfort for patients and their families. Rooms include beautiful furniture and fixtures, private bathrooms and sofas to allow overnight stays by family. The privacy of the room, in addition to sound absorbing materials on the floors and ceilings, help to maintain a quieter and more peaceful hospital environment. Each room as a flat-screen television and state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring.
Financial Assistance
St. John Health Hospitals have programs to assist patients who are uninsured or cannot afford medical care. Our programs include sliding scale discounts, financial assistance for those who meet income requirements and referrals to federally funded programs. If you need a copy of your medical records, print and complete the Release of Medical Records Authorization form. Be sure to specify the dates of service and the type of information needed. Communication Aids & Services
Telecommunications devices are available for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The services that are offered are specialized text telephones (TTY), amplified phones, and large button phones. A TTY phone is located in Operator Services Department, which is staffed 24-hours a day and can be reached by dialing 313-343-3126.
Interpreter Services and Conference interpreting are available by contacting Operator Services at 313-343-4000 or by dialing “0” with in the hospital.
Pharmacy
Professional Pharmacy located in Professional Building One and After-Hours Pharmacy in the James T. Farley Concentrated Care Building carry many medications and medical supplies that may be difficult to find in neighborhood pharmacies.

Physician Referral

Social Work and Discharge Planning
Social workers and nurse discharge planners are assigned to every patient unit to help with personal and family problems resulting from illness and disability. They provide advice on living arrangements after discharge and about community resources. There is no charge for this service.

Spiritual Care
Chaplains are available to counsel patients and family members of all faiths. Mass is celebrated in St. Edward Chapel on the first floor of the James T. Farley Concentrated Care Building. Both Mass and Protestant services are televised free of charge to each patient room.
