Emergency Medicine Residency Program at St. John Hospital and Medical CenterSt. John Hospital and Medical Center (SJH&MC) is an 804-bed tertiary care designated trauma facility located on Detroit’s east side. Because of its location, SJH&MC Emergency Department (ED) serves patients from the inner city as well as the adjacent suburban areas, providing for a diverse emergency department experience. The Emergency Department is busy, seeing over 100,000 patients per year. The Emergency Department has a separate pediatric Emergency area located within the department which is staffed by fellowship-trained Emergency Pediatrics faculty. Roughly 25% of all patient visits are pediatric, providing residents with excellent experience in Emergency Pediatrics. The residency program is fully accredited by the ACGME and is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine, Department of Emergency. Members of the faculty at SJH&MC have faculty appointments from Wayne State University, and academic and research support is provided to the program. The program is a 3-year program (PGY-1 through PGY-3), and has been approved for 12 positions per year. |
