Pink and Blue United for a Cure

Facts about Breast Cancer

Most people are not aware that breast cancer is a disease that affects both women and men; hence our slogan: “Don’t just think pink, think blue.”

While breast cancer still remains the most common cancer among women in the United States, approximately 1900 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Even more alarming, the survival rate for men with this devastating disease is only three percent due to late diagnosis.

5K Breast Cancer Walk/Run

Team Angels is hosting their 2nd Annual Pink and Blue United for a Cure 5K walk/run. The event begins and ends at Stony Creek Metro Park (Baypoint) on Saturday, May 8, 2010. All are encouraged to participate in this community event. So get ready to get those bodies moving for a good cause.

Net proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer patients in our community who come for healing at the Van Elslander Cancer Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.

 Things to know:

  • Cancer survivors are welcome to come and walk the One Mile Survivor walk.
  • A snack and refreshments will be provided during/after the walk/run at Stony Creek Park.
  • The sign up fee for the walk is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.

Recruit teams of office members, families, friends and neighbors or just come by yourself. For those unable to participate, you can show your support by making a monetary donation or becoming a volunteer.

Sponsorship Opportunities are also available for $200. Sponsorship commitments must be made by Friday, April 23 to secure your name on the t-shirt.

For more information, contact Julie Addis at (313) 647-3000.
