Facts About Cancer
Cancer can be a deadly disease. One in three Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. This disease has already affected many of us either personally or through friends and family.
The good news is there is something we can do to fight this disease. Two-thirds of cancer deaths could be prevented through healthy living. To help us battle this disease and give support to cancer patients and survivors get ready to lace up those gym shoes!
Stamp Out Cancer 5K Walk/Run
Next Level Health & Fitness is hosting their 3rd annual Stamp Out Cancer 5K walk/run. The event begins and ends at Blossom Heath Waterfront Park on the Nautical Mile. All are encouraged to participate in this community event. So get ready to get those bodies moving for a good cause. Net proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer patients in our community who come for healing at the Van Elslander Cancer Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.
Things to know:
- Parking is at Blossom Heath Waterfront Park. Participants will be shuttled from Blossom Heath to Next Level Health & Fitness to begin the walk/run.
- Cancer survivors are welcome to come and walk the One Mile Survivor walk.
- A celebratory picnic with refreshments will be provided after the walk/run at Blossom Heath Park.
- The sign up fee for the walk/run is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.
- Recruit teams of office members, families, friends and neighbors or just come by yourself. By registering before 4 pm on Sept. 4, you can secure a loved one’s name in the memorial section of the t-shirt.
- Sponsor sheets are also available for those willing to raise money for this worthy cause. For those unable to participate, you can show your support by making a monetary donation or becoming a volunteer.
