What our patients say
"I had a heart attack that resulted in Quadruple by-pass surgery in 2003. Although I realized that my health exercise and eating habits needed to change, I did not commit enough time and energy to change my life style to improve my health. In November 2006, I had a second major heart attack. After leaving the hospital, I went to a cardiac doctor who said he was going to write a prescription for Cardiac Rehab. I was also told by my family physician that I was now a diabetic. At this point I felt like I was falling apart and was mad at the world because of the cards that had been dealt. The team at St. John's Cardiac Rehab Center guided me through life-saving health improvements in both dietary and exercise. They motivated me to get through it. Thank you! - James McDavitt After a stress test and heart catheterization in Aug. 2006, I underwent triple bypass surgery. As part of my recovery, I attended the St. John Cardiac Rehab program. Since attending rehab, I've lost a few pounds and my diabetes is under control. I am now in phase 3. I decided to continue with the program because it's a great feeling to know there are nurses and therapists on board. The atmosphere is always friendly and up-beat, and always professional. The staff has helped me to become physically stronger and more confident. I always leave with a general sense of well being." - Dianna Mills "I started exercising here five years ago, on the advice of my doctor, because I had no energy and my condition was getting worse. Today, I feel great both physically and mentally. I attribute that to the exercise program. In addition, my cardiologist informs me that my heart has gotten stronger over this time, proving that exercise does make a difference! Then, last summer, I underwent two major surgeries and aggressive chemotherapy. I am certain that I got through this period problem-free, and with a shortened recovery time, because of the conditioning level provided by the St. John Cardiac Rehab program. I've always felt comfortable exercising because I knew the staff was keeping an eye on what I was doing. I appreciate their intelligence, scope of knowledge and concern. I've always felt I was in very capable hands. Thank you!" - Larry DeLorme "I highly recommend the St. John Cardiac Rehab program to help build the strength that is imperative to one's health during recovery. After surviving triple bypass usrgery, recovering from a stroke and trying to control hypertension, I -- a person who never exercised before -- now exercise three to six times per week for up to an hour, thanks to the enouragement of the great staff such as John Silveri, Theresa Dombrow and Carolyn Meldrum." - Terry Chase "St. John Phase 2 & Phase 3 programs have been very beneficial to me. They helped speed my recovery following heart bypass surgery in Jan 02. My stamina increased as did my muscle and joint flexibility. Also my B/P is now controlled with ¼ of my previous medication. A wealth of information regarding stress, medications and diet was also presented. The program is a great tool to help you improve you health and well-being. I continue to go to Phase 3 and really enjoy it.” - Dave, age75, Shelby Twp “I feel more energized after exercise. It helps control my blood sugars and blood pressure and I feel active all day. It controls my weight and I sleep better.” - Sayed, age 59, Detroit “The program was great. At first, I didn’t think I needed it, being only 42 years old. But I thought I’d check it out. I thought it would be full of older people but found a wide range of ages. The education and motivation from the staff and other patients was very helpful. I’m back to work and have joined a gym to keep up the exercise.” - Bob, age 42, Roseville |
