Pikes Peak, Colorado ~ June 27, 2009

Breast Cancer - The statistic is startling.
One in every nine women has a chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer within her lifetime.

When you are diagnosed with breast cancer, every day counts. The Liggett Breast Center’s revolutionary process enables you to review your options quickly with your entire cancer care team. The nationally recognized team of experts can then help you begin treatment within just days of your diagnosis.

The Van Elslander Cancer Center’s Liggett Breast Center focuses on:
·        early detection
·        screening
·        risk factor assessment and,
·        timely treatment.

The Climb to Beat Breast Cancer ~ Rocky Mountain Challenge is the Champions for Life first attempt at forming a team of climbers to raise funds for the Van Elslander Cancer Center’s (VECC) Liggett Breast Center at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.

If challenging yourself physically and mentally appeals to your adventurous side and being part of a team making a real difference inspires you, please consider applying to join the Champions for Life Climb To Beat Breast Cancer ~ Rocky Mountain Challenge Team. The team of climbers will attempt to reach the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs on Saturday, June 27, 2009.

By joining this expedition, you become part of a team of climbers that will bring attention to and raise funds for the VECC. As a climber, you will follow in the footsteps of our founder, Francesco Lucarelli, who has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa, in 2007, and Mt. Aconcagua, Argentina, in 2008.

I encourage you to join us in this important work and help us continue Francesco’s vision. He views climbing mountains as a wonderful metaphor for his conviction that – like working to prevent breast cancer – anything is possible if taken one step at a time.

Apply today to join an inspirational team of people and share an experience of a lifetime.
