“Encouraging healthy lifestyles through education”
Prevention, encouraging healthy lifestyles and helping individuals cope with illness is the focus of St. John Community Health’s community education and wellness activities. Opportunities are available for individuals to learn about good health—what it is and how to achieve it. Screening programs help individuals identify health concerns, facilitate the management of symptoms and medication, and provide referrals to health care providers. Through our community education classes, information is provided on health and wellness topics as well as management of chronic illnesses. Outreach activities provide resources to assess and improve health status through health fairs and partnerships with community coalitions and organizations. Community calendars, “Smart Steps to Good Health” and “Health Connections,” are published three times a year.
