Dr. J. Rene Frontera, MD, is an associate physician in the Michigan Institute of Urology, which he joined in 2001. He has been board certified in the specialty of urology by the American Board of Urology since 1994 and is experienced in all areas of adult urology. Dr. Frontera has developed a special interest in the areas of minimally invasive surgery, endourology and urinary stone disease as well as lower urinary tract trauma and reconstruction and has published articles, chapters and lectured in these fields. He has been a member of the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons performing Laparoscopic Urology Surgery since 1991. Dr. Frontera is a member of the following organizations: American Urological Association, American Urological Association North Central Section, Michigan State Medical Society, Wayne County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Endourologic society and the Latin American College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Frontera attended medical school at University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. He did a one year internship in General Surgery followed by two more years of surgery residency at
Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Frontera then completed his Urology Residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
After finishing his urologic training Dr. Frontera became Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at WSU where he joined the teaching faculty as a full time staff. During his tenure at WSU he also served as Director of the Endourology and the Urologic Trauma sections of the Department of Urology. In 1997 he left the department to join private practice.
He is board certified in the specialty of urology by the American Board of Urology.

Edward W. Schervish, MD

Dr. Schervish specializes in laparascopic surgery and conventional surgery for urologic cancers. He has a special interest in the use of clinical trials for treating urologic cancers. Dr. Schervish had a Fellowship specializing in Urologic Cancer Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City from 1989-1991.
